The only way to get through the stress of a high school wrestling season is to surround yourself with an incredible support system. The biggest and most important part of that system is the wonderful families that we hang out with from mid-December through the first weekend in March. Today... on the first day of no wrestling in 2009... I am thankful for them. Wrestling is different from other sports in so many ways... but for parents... it is VERY time and emotionally consuming... Just when you consider the traveling and time spent in the stands at tournaments! When you spend so much time with people... the differences between you seem to fade away in the more important common bond that you share. We laugh together, cry together, pray together, worry together and we celebrate together. We take care of each other... and take care of each others children. We count on each other for support. We are committed to the team and to the WE concept. This is a group effort and we take our roles seriously. We have made friendships that will last way beyond the tournaments and dual meets. I know these friendships will last a lifetime. I don't want to name them, but you know who you are... And I hope you know what you mean to me and to my family. Thank you for all you do... for the support and for the love and I can't wait to see what the future holds for us all.
