Today's post is going to sound a little off... but it was so much fun (and exciting) it has to be counted as a blessing. Yesterday was the warmest day we've had in 2009. In our area we reached a high of 85. It was beautiful. We had been warned however that it was going to change dramatically today. Our expected high was only 65 and it was supposed to rain... and that's exactly what happened.
Charlie and I went for a walk around 12:00 noon. When we first went outside I could see the dark clouds moving in, but I thought for sure we had plenty of time. It takes about 30 minutes to make a lap around the farm and that's the route we usually take. There are a few "short cuts" around the beginning part, but we (I) chose to just walk and try and beat the storm.
As we walked... it got darker and darker and the wind really kicked up. I knew within a few minutes we were going to be wet. We walked a little faster the closer we got to the house... and just as we walked up the driveway, it started to sprinkle. We just made it.
Charlie was oblivious, but I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. (I guess you had to be there.) I challenged myself (and Charlie) against Mother Nature, and this time, she let me slip by.
