No Games

I'm finding it very curious what I call a blessing.  Sometimes... it is the absence of an item, person or event that is the blessing for the day... and today's blessing certainly fits into that category. I HATE bridal/baby showers.  Totally and completely dislike these events.  I could write a long explanation to WHY... (I.e... They're similar to being held hostage) but I won't, since I'm trying to focus on the positive in this blog... (I'm telling you, it would be much easier to write a Things I Hate blog.)  I always try and get out of them if at all possible, but sometimes my presence is required to keep family peace and harmony.

Well... I had a shower today.  Leroy's cousin is getting married in July and the shower was held in his uncle's beautiful backyard.  Sounds good right?  Not when I tell you that the temperature high for the day was 107!  One hundred and seven degrees!  Are you kidding me?  Isn't this May?  Add this little detail to the fact that I'm a "Shower Hater" and you have the makings for a disaster.  I pouted all morning, took a nap and then went to the shower which felt as though it was being held in Hell.

The good news (yeah... I forgot, I said I wasn't going to go on and on with the negative, but it's so easy) is that there were NO PARTY GAMES!  Alleluia.  I can't tell you how relived I was.  The hosts did not prolong our agony any longer than necessary.  The appetizers/lunch/desserts were absolutely delicious, the drinks were cold and plentiful and the atmosphere was delightful.  The bridesmaids organized a "gift opening assembly line" which moved along quickly and efficiently... but my favorite part?  No games.
