One of the greatest advantages of living in the beautiful California Central Valley is the abundance of fresh, locally grown produce. Agriculture is the lifeblood of this area and never is this more evident than during a visit to the local Farmers’ Market.
My tomatoes aren’t ready yet. I planted too late and our unseasonably mild weather in the beginning of the summer didn’t help them along. (Although they’re catching up now with our week long, over 100 degree heat wave we are currently experiencing.) I’ve really been looking for fresh, ripe tomatoes and I knew this would be the best place to go. Sierra and I went to Modesto to the morning Farmer’s Market and bought a whole basket full…. along with some fresh strawberries and a loaf of fresh French bread. It doesn’t get any better than this.
