I’ve been privileged over the years to have access to some “teen” events that most parents wouldn’t dream of attending. Sometimes I’m invited, but most of the time I just show up. I’ve adopted the motto… “Better to ask forgiveness than permission.” I try to be inconspicuous, and so far I’ve never been asked to leave.
In the high school parking lot, we met up with the kids going to the first school dance and I took some pictures. The theme was country/western and so most of the kids were dressed in costume. I know some of them are a bit uncomfortable having me around, but eventually, they appreciate the pictures. That’s my game… carrying the camera gives me an entrance ticket to priceless high school moments, and for the next nine months, I’m not going to miss a one of them.
