Back to School Night
This is always one of my favorite events at the high school. We actually follow along with our child’s schedule and attend a mini class (about 10 minutes) where the teacher goes over the material and expectations for the year. Most of the teachers I already know, but it’s always interesting to find out what the focus of the class will be and what the teachers are expecting from the students. I’ve always considered the teaching staff at our high school to be a group of extraordinary individuals. I will honestly say that there have only been a couple of teachers that I haven’t cared for. Most of them are really terrific, dedicated people who see their vocation as more than just a job, for the good ones always see it as a ministry. They have been a blessing to our entire family.
Another favorite part of Back to School night is meeting up with parents that I haven’t seen in a while. One of the best parts of switching classes is to learn which of your child’s friends are in their classes and to get to visit even if it is only for a few moments.
This is my last one. The last time a teacher will feel the need to present his curriculum to me and to involve me in the education of my child. Strange… but like I’ve said before… I have a whole school year of “lasts” ahead.
