Charlie had his first outing at the library today. He officially started with the “Read to the Dog” program. Kids can sign up for a 20 minute reading session with a dog. This program is designed to encourage young readers to build their skills and confidence. Charlie’s first reader was a 4th grade boy who wants to be a doctor. He could read better than I can. He chose a Sponge Bob Square Pants comic book to read. He read aloud using the voices of the individual characters and sound effects. It was very entertaining.
Charlie’s other two appointments didn’t show up, so we meandered around through the Children’s Departments greeting kids and talking about the program. Charlie had his picture taken and will be in the newspaper soon.
