It has been a tradition the last 4 years that we host one of the Gridiron Dinners at the school on a Thursday night during the football season. These weekly dinners are for the adult fans of CC Football. We do ask for donations (to benefit the program) but otherwise they are free and all are welcome. Most of the time it’s the same group of parents. We meet for appetizers and drinks at 6:00, dinner at 7:00 and at 8:00, everyone heads into the locker room to hear an update on the previous week’s game and a scouting report on what’s to come on Friday night.
These dinners are a great way to meet new people and since we feel so honored to be a part of this program, it has been a privilege to host one of the dinners each year.
Dinner for 75-100? No problem. But only when you have lots of help. Some of the years we’ve resigned to hiring a caterer, but this year we did it all ourselves. All of the cooking, decorating, serving and clean up… but it was only possible with the help of some very dear friends and family. My mother in law helped with the preparation at home and when we arrived at the school, I was greeted by more volunteers who were ready to work and didn’t stop until everything was cleaned up and put away. We truly are blessed to have such wonderful people in our lives. We couldn’t have done it without them.
