Steel loves to cook, and he's very good at it. He'll even go to the grocery store and get all of the necessary ingredients he needs to create something that he's craving. He's very self sufficient. My only problem with him (besides cleaning up his mess) is the fact that he likes to cook and eat VERY HEALTHY and that is not my favorite way to cook (or eat.) Today when I walked in from work (a little later than usual) he had chicken enchiladas baking in the oven. He had found a "healthy version" recipe and went to the grocery store after finals today to get what he needed. I thought they were great. Actually, food always tastes better when someone else cooks it, but it was really a treat to walk in from work, set my stuff down and sit down to dinner that I didn't have to cook. He could have served a brick and I would have been satisfied. The blessing is the fact that I know my kid can take care of himself. Our primary goal as parents was to give our children the tools they needed to be successful as adults and so far so good. Now, we can't take all of the credit. God blessed us with exceptional children and we've done everything we could to mess them up, but they've risen above all of our negative influence. God only gives us what we can handle, and he knew we couldn't handle much so he gave us easy children to raise. Now, I just need to teach him how to do the laundry and he'll be ready for college.
