Choosing Hilmar

Many of my friends are SHOCKED and SURPRISED (to say the least) about our announcement to be moving to Hilmar.  Afterall, I've been known to refer to it as HELLmar.  For those of you who do not know the circumstances... Hilmar High School is a big rival of Central Catholic High School (where my children attended and where Leroy coaches.)  Over the years we've enjoyed a lot of (mostly) good humor and teasing. Hilmar is a small town with one high school and therefore the WHOLE community is supportive.  Football in particular is a big deal.  Leroy's brother and sister have lived there and their kids attend school in Hilmar... so of course that made for some very interesting family gatherings over the years.

Well, I'm here to tell you... never say never.  I would never have imagined where my life would lead me and certainly never thought I'd be a resident of Hilmar but to be honest I have to admit that I'm really looking forward to becoming a resident.  It is such a wonderful feeling to already know your neighbors... (or at least know who they are) and we'll be closer to the Rocha group of niece and nephews.  I am hoping that the current residents will know that my previous comments about their fair city were only in jest...

I know God has a sense of humor and this latest development in my life is proof of that.  Sense of humor is good for a town too.  Where else can you find Christmas decorations like this "hung" on the main street?
