What I'm Doing at 20:11 in 2011... Sometimes we get so caught up in our perfectionism that we don't do anything at all. It seems not to do something because we don't think we'll do it perfectly. In reality, we just don't do it at all which seems to be the worst kind of procrastination.
In June of 2010, my external hard drive crashed... the hard drive that housed ALL of my photographs from the last 2 years... probably 20,000 +. (It still makes me nauseous to think about it.) It might be salvageable, but it will cost several thousand dollars for recovery... so for now it will have to wait.
You would think that I would have learned my lesson. But I have not. I did get a different hard drive (a gift from my nephew) and I don't keep it on all the time, but that is no guarantee. I have slowed way down on the amount of photographs I take, but that's not an excuse either. My biggest issue was time. It was going to take too much time to back up the full size files onto Shutterfly. Dumb, dumb, dumb.
I decided today... Just upload them in a smaller size and get it done. And, I'm proud to say that I did. I backed up every picture on my computer and hard drive to Shutterfly where I can store and access them forever.
Now my new commitment is to upload the full size version of every set of pictures immediately after I download them off of the camera. Little by little it won't be such a big task... and no excuses.
Maybe the best news of all is that this whole project has encouraged me to pick up the camera again.
