What I'm Doing at 20:11 in 2011...
Whenever I get the chance to combine two things I love... it's been a really, really good day. These are the times that I look back on with tremendously fond memories. The time goes by so quickly, but I have learned to appreciate these moments when they come along. Experience has been a gentle teacher. Today, I was privileged to photograph some of the seniors for Hilmar's High School's football team. We did the photos earlier today and at 8:11, I find myself still going through them... mostly just reminiscing.
I always think of this as "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year..." the time when football season begins. Just to be clear... I'm not an NFL fan. Sure it's fine to watch on occasion, but I am a true fan of the non-pro teams around me. The boys that play for the love of the sport... and for the passion that the game requires. The boys that suit up on Fridays and Saturdays are my heroes.
The boys in this photo and the boys that have been in the countless photos before them have given me a great gift. They have been kind, patient, polite and most of all appreciative... when I am the one who is in their debt. They have allowed me to express my own passion, through the art of photography and for that I am eternally thankful.
Horace once wrote: "Many heroes lived before... but all are unknown and unwept, extinguished in everlasting night, because they have no spirited chronicler." My greatest joy comes in being the "spirited chronicler" for the heroes around me. Thank you, thank you, thank you for the honor.
