Captain's Night at 20:11
What I'm Doing at 20:11 in 2011... We've been on several cruises and each time, there is a special night dedicated to dinner with the captain. Now, I never saw what all the fuss was about. You stand in line, take a picture with a guy in a uniform and then you're on your way... no different than any other night.
Well, "Captain's Night" will hold a different meaning for me from now on. Tonight... my son... #39 for the Pacific University Boxers represented his team as a Captain for their game against the Menlo Oaks.
I got a great shot (earlier in the day) of the captains as they came out of the tunnel, and then again when they walked out to the center of the field for the coin toss.
He told me about this ahead of time, so I had a chance to prepare... but just like all the other times Steel has set foot on the field, I wasn't prepared for the experience. At 8:11, I'm watching the game, with a full heart and a lump in my throat.
Steel is my hero. He's the one that I want to stand beside for a picture. This is the young man in uniform that fills my heart with pride each and every time he steps on the field.
