Adopted Choice at 20:11

What I'm Doing at 20:11 in 2011... There has been lots, and lots of news about Apple and Steve Jobs since his passing yesterday. In my own reflection, I remembered the Apple IIe that I received as a Christmas gift in 1983. That computer changed my world... and I've been hooked ever since. To say that the man changed (forever) how we interact with each other is an understatement. He was a genius... and a brilliant businessman.

I came across an article this evening and was in the middle of reading it when the 8:11 alarm reminded me to take notice of the moment. The article was about Steve Jobs' birthmother... and the choice that she made that was a gift to the world.

Jobs' biological mother was an unwed college student and decided to place him for adoption instead of undergoing an abortion. Such a brave and loving choice. The right choice. And with her decision, a family and countless other people who knew and loved Steve Jobs' were blessed forever. But that's the thing about adoption isn't it? It is pure, selfless gift.

It makes me think that maybe the world should be thanking Steve Jobs' birthmother... and her gift of life.
