For those who don't know, Brandon (my nephew) broke his Fibula on September 14th in a football game. (The day before Steel's injury.) He had it surgically repaired on September 26th (pins and plate) but was hospitalized again last night to treat an infection at the site of the surgery. Today Doc went back in and cleaned out the wound. He's on a "Bazooka" of antibiotics. Once the cultures come back and they know more about the type of infection he has, they'll begin to treat him with the "sniper" antibiotic specific for his infection. The bottom line is that he's got some healing to do and the first step is to get rid of the infection to allow the wound to close. Anyone who knows Brandon personally will tell you that he is an extraordinary young man. To see him laid up for this long has been difficult to watch. This guy never stops. He's constantly working on one thing or another, running from project to project in between school, sports and activities. But right now, he's on strict orders to rest, recover and heal. Of course being stuck in a hospital room tethered to an IV poll will force him into submission. I am really looking forward to the day when he's back to his old self... Harassing and teasing and giving me grief again.
Please keep him in your prayers for his continued and prompt recovery... And for the doctor who has also been charmed by his personality and is working to get him back on his feet.
Both of them.
