First of all, let me be clear. Catholics do not pray to saints. This is a HUGE misconception. We do ask the saints to pray (to God only) on our behalf. (After all, they have nothing else better to do.) We request their intercession, but we do not pray for them to do anything more than to intercede for us. St. Jude is the patron saint of "hopeless causes." I usually don't think ANYTHING is hopeless, but I have found myself in circumstances that seem dire and St. Jude seems like a guy who knows all about being backed into a corner. I had asked for his intercession a while back and although it took a long time, the prayer was answered. And typical for me, I forgot all about it.
Although I have thanked God for answering the prayer, I forgot to thank St. Jude for his intercession. Tradition says that one should "publicly" thank St. Jude. These public postings can often be found in the personal ads. I figured this blog and Facebook were sufficient. (And actually, maybe even reach more readers.)
So, thank you St. Jude for interceding on my behalf. My prayer was answered.
