I was going to write this post this morning. I knew early what grace would come on this day. Central Catholic had a really big game... and I stopped for a moment and realized that not everyone gets to watch their team still playing in December. These teams are the best of the best... and to witness their continued progression is pure grace. Just the fact that the team is still in the game at this point is really a great accomplishment. The CC Football family suffered a tremendous loss yesterday with the passing of parent and football fan John Stark. John was a wonderful man and he will be missed by all who knew him. My children were blessed to have him as a teacher in grammar school and that relationship continues as part of the CC Football family.
My team won today... but for me, that's really just a positive footnote to the day. I left the house knowing we are blessed to still be playing football in December, and that the team would stand by their teammate in his time of mourning.
The victory (and Section Championship title) was just icing on the cake.
