Hey Kid: Just Do It

Sometimes life gets busy and even the best of ideas or intentions can fall by the wayside.  This happens to all of us.  I've learned that nothing happens until it gets scheduled.  Nothing.  It sounds simple... but it's true.  We can talk all we want but until we plan and schedule... nothing gets accomplished.  It doesn't become important to us until we're willing to trade our time.

Many, years ago... when Steel was about 6 years old, he told his grandfather that he wanted to take him on a trip to San Francisco.  Actually, the original plan was to "drive in a red convertible with the top down."  They've talked about this trip for years... and since Steel's been away at college it's really been on his mind.  Each trip home they'd discuss it... but it didn't happen.

Until today.

Steel, Austin, Brandon and Landon picked up their grandfather and took him to San Francisco.  Instead of the red convertible, they settled for my Ford Edge, but it was a memorable trip none-the-less.  They took a boat tour of the San Francisco Bay and enjoyed lunch on Pier 39.  It was an experience that none of them will soon forget.

Life offers us opportunities... and it's so easy to turn them down.  Life takes effort... and sometimes it's easier to makes excuses than it is to plan and schedule.  We think we're too busy, or too tired, or too broke...

When you're offered an experience, a trip, an invitation.... Just do it.  I promise you won't regret it.  And if it doesn't turn out to be what you expected... chalk it up to experience.  You may never get a second chance.
