Hey Kid: Don't Be Stupid
Last night we attended an informative presentation about personal safety. Although most of the information presented was common sense it was good to be reminded of how vigilant we must be in today's world to keep ourselves and our families safe. The most important lesson was to be constantly aware of our surroundings because to prevent any harm coming to us or those we love. I thought about you when the presenter offered this advice: Don't go to stupid places with stupid people and do stupid things. It sounds pretty simple, but there are a lot of variables in this equation. This is a list of three bad decisions when just one of these can get you in trouble.
It might be easier if we just say, don't be stupid. Period.
I know that stupid is up for interpretation, but for the most part we know when we're not making the smartest choices. Most of us are very good at justifying our actions. The suggestion was made to know if a decision is stupid or not is to ask yourself, "Would I be doing this right now, in this place, with these people if my parents were here?"
Hmm. Now that's a different perspective.
So this is my request for you. Please, please don't be stupid. (It is also my plea to your parents, on a daily basis.) Use your head and the common sense God gave you. You're going to screw up from time to time. We all do. Learn from those mistakes and make a better choice when it comes around again.
