Hey Kid: Paperless
I am not an environmentalist. Far from it. But there are some things that just make sense. By the time you're old enough to read this all record keeping, correspondence, billing and other communications will be entirely digital. Just in the last few years we've made tremendous strides in this direction. I barely print anything these days. I'm a lot more organized and efficient this way but the biggest advantage has been minimizing the clutter. This year, I have set a goal for myself to be entirely paperless. It's going to take a while, an investment in time and some hardware, but I'm going to do it. Even if it take the whole year to accomplish. It's part of my overall "downsize and simplify" plan for 2013.
The biggest obstacle in this process will be scanning and organizing the numerous boxes of photographs in the garage. All of these have been packed away since we moved from the dairy in December of 2010. I'm not so sure I'll get to all of those this year. Since they are stored currently, they are at the bottom of the priority list.
Hopefully, when it's all said and done, I will be able to leave behind a very large, well-organized zip drive that will contain our entire family history including millions of photographs.
