The good news is today is Fat Tuesday. The bad news is that means tomorrow is the beginning of Lent. Tonight is our last "hurrah" before the season of penance and fasting. We know from experience that we have to celebrate today while we have the chance. Tomorrow we'll be called to fasting, prayer, personal reflection, repentance and humility. Ash Wednesday is tough. But, "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." But isn't that true about every day of our life? We never know what tomorrow will bring. We should be celebrating and rejoicing while we can because we never know how long it's going to last. The only reason we're able to face Lent is because the ending is already scheduled. It's only 6 weeks, and we can do it. We've done it before. But the real lesson should be embrace whatever season is upon us. Be present in the moment and not take anything for granted. Afterall, we only appreciate the feast if we're called to fast on occasion.
