I'm a collector of quotes and one of my favorites is "Life is tough, but it's tougher when you're stupid." It's simple, concise and true. It's perfect. The best advice I can offer to anyone is to marry well. When I say this, most people think I mean marry money, but that is not the case. Marrying well is so much more and can make the difference between a tough life and a great life. Going through it with the right person will make all the difference in the world. It makes life so much more simple and fun.
The decision we make when choosing who we marry will impact us for the rest of our lives. Love is grand but it's not the only factor to consider when making the decision on your life long partner. Not only will you be stuck with them for the rest of your life (you can't ever really get rid of them) perhaps more importantly, they will be a parent to your children. Choose well.
Love yes, but also compatibility, shared vision, common goals, financial sensibility, and friendship. Marry your friend, someone who makes you laugh. You also must realize that you not only marry an individual, you marry into their family as well. It's a package deal.
And when you find them, spend the rest of your life striving to deserve them.
