Hey Kid: Read a Book

I consider myself a collector of books.  One of the items on my bucket list is to actually READ all of the books I own.  At least my “collection” doesn’t take up much space anymore.  Since the invention of the e-reader, I rarely buy a hardcover book (unless it’s a cookbook.) But, I’ve continued to collect.  (Which has worked out well because Chief is no longer as acutely aware of my habit and therefore doesn’t complain as much.) One of the best ways to keep yourself entertained is to read a book.  In an instant you can be transported to another time and place and completely escape the everyday.  If you have a good book (and it doesn’t even matter if you’ve read it a hundred times) you can take a mini-vacation and truly relax your mind and body.

Figure out early which genera you prefer.  I’m not a fan of mysteries, but it’s very difficult for me to put down a good romance novel.  My love of history fuels my love of reading as well.  It doesn’t even matter if it’s fiction or non-fiction… Sometimes it’s learning, sometimes it’s pretending but it’s always using your imagination.
