Hey Kid: Updates

One of the most difficult parts of my job is keeping up with the latest trends and new information.  The digital world changes constantly and what was impossible yesterday, is standard procedure today.  And, processes, guidelines and best practices are updated continuously and no one wants to fall behind.  It's easy to get lost in all of the information.  Just gathering it is a tremendous task... sorting through and implementing is a whole other matter. This "information age" is not going away.  If anything, it's getting faster and faster and you're going to have to learn to keep up.  Think of your brain as a highly sophisticated software program.  There are constant updates to make it run more efficiently and to fix minor "bugs" or errors that have cropped up along the way.  (It happens to the best of us.)  It's a bit of a pain to close down and actually update once in a while... but it is a critical habit.   It will help you stay ahead of the pack and current.

Don't delay the updates.  Whether you're updating your software or your knowledge base... Just do it.  Never, never stop learning.  Don't fall into a false sense of security... or the false thinking that you know it all.  You might know it today, but I guarantee it's going to change.
