Bill Gates once said, "Be nice to geeks. Chances are you'll end up working for one." I would add: Not only will you work for one, you may be related to one, or married to one, or even give birth to one. This is not a bad thing. Everyone needs help from a geek every once in a while. When you're stuck with an issue and need help, you'll be glad you've got one on your side. I'm the family geek. Ask anyone. And they all make fun but when they really need something done on the computer, guess who gets called...? Yep. Me. Then suddenly I'm brilliant and a hero, all at the same time.
I hope at least one of my grandchildren will take over my "geek duties." I'm getting older and it's getting more and more difficult to grasp new concepts. Technology is changing faster than I can keep up. We need a fresh mind in this family to bail us out of trouble. In the meantime, I'll do my part to help out the "intellectually inferior." (Not really, they're just technically challenged.)
