Hey Kid: Treat Me Right

With age comes wisdom and I know that many of the concepts that I write about will not seem sensible until you’ve matured a bit.  I know this.  My hope is that you will be open to my words sooner rather than later to avoid un-necessary heart ache. Our actions speak louder than our words.  People may only listen to half of what we say, but they always watch what we do.  Our actions are a more accurate source of information about us.  Our behavior is the true indicator of our character.

Because people learn from us with every word and every action, we teach people how to treat us.  We demonstrate, by our behavior what we will put up with and what we will not tolerate.  Our friends and family learn very quickly what they can get away with and what they cannot.  It’s just that simple.

So the next time someone is treating you poorly, look to yourself.  What have you done in the past to teach them that their behavior is acceptable to you?  What did you tolerate that has brought you to this point?

Then, make a different choice.
