I just recently survived about 36 hours without the Internet. Now I know that might sound scary as hell... but I'm here to tell you that it wasn't too bad. Really. Now, I won't tell you it wasn't frustrating, or that I didn't skip a beat. It was and I did. My "fear of missing out" was at an all time high and since I didn't prepare, the blog posts were not posted on the regular schedule. I won't say that no one suffered (because I did a little bit) but everyone (including me) survived the situation. And it was nice. It was slow and it was without distraction which was a positive change in lifestyle even if it was for a short period of time.
I've written before about putting the phone away, but now I'm here to tell you that taking it a step further and unplugging altogether can be beneficial too. It's an important lesson to learn that life goes one even when you can't check your Twitter feed. (Or Facebook, or Instagram, or Google+... well, you get the idea.) Walk away from the electronics once in a while. It was good for me to remember that many people live their lives completely "Internet Free" and do very well.
