1,000 Words: First Oreo

I've always lived by the theory that it's much easier to ask for forgiveness rather than permission.  In most cases it has served me well and I've gotten away with many things many things that I probably shouldn't have.  I'm certainly not apologizing for anything.  Believe me, it was all worth it. One of the "privileges" that I granted myself was giving my nieces and nephews their First Oreo.  Unfortunately, this did not include ALL of my dear nieces and nephews.  I had to be older to have enough courage for this (and also no fear the wrath of my brothers) so the only beneficiaries are those on the Rocha side of the family.  Pulling it off with John and Lynette's kids was really a thrill because their diet was closely monitored and sugar was not a regular occurence (like it was for my kids.)

This is Little Lauren and the results of her first Oreo.  We're standing in front of the main house on the dairy where John and Doralice lived at the time.  (Later to become our home.)  Obviously, Lauren's parents were not around. (I'm not that brave.)  I'm assuming she was staying with Vava which actually makes me feel bad.  In hindsight, I'm sure she was blamed for the resulting consequences.  None-the-less, it was worth the risk.  The kids love those cookies... and we loved watching them devour them.  They were always a little apprehensive at first, but once they got a taste, there was no looking back!
