1,000 Words: The Girls of 2009
Whenever I look at this picture there is a song that plays in my head. The song comes from Sesame Street and the lyrics are:
One of these things is not like the others, One of these things just doesn't belong, Can you tell which thing is not like the others By the time I finish my song?
It's pretty obvious in this photo that I am the one thing that is not like others, but I really didn't mind. These girls are young, beautiful and very, very tall and I was privileged to be a part of their world for a short time and it has left me with some wonderful memories. I've always known that my camera was a secret key that opened up a very exclusive world. Most teenagers don't want a "mom" hanging around, but when I had my camera, I was welcomed with open arms and experienced some wonderful moments with many, many kids.
These girls were particular favorites of mine. They were life long friends who grew up together and were kind enough to share their some of their high school moments with me. I have a lot of photos of them together at various events, but this is the only one I have where I was in the picture. This was taken just prior to their Senior Prom in May of 2009. All of them graduated from high school that year and I missed them terribly. They've all finished college now and are beginning their "big girl" lives. Thank you (L to R) Marell, Hannah F., Jen, Laura and Hannah Z. for allowing me to be a part of the fun.
