1,000 Words: Monsignor Cotta
This is my Godfather Monsignor Myron Cotta. This picture was taken in 2011 at Austin and Brandon’s Confirmation in Hilmar. At the time, Msgr. Cotta was the Vicar General of the Diocese of Fresno and was the celebrant at the mass because their bishop had passed away and a new one had not yet been assigned. I truly love and appreciate this man. His faith is contagious but it was his straightforward and honest personality that first won me over. I got to know him well when Leroy was the president for Turlock Pentecost Association (1996) and he became a trusted spiritual advisor and friend during my conversion to Catholicism. He was an obvious and preferred choice to be my “official” sponsor.
In 2014, Myron Cotta was named the Auxiliary Bishop for the Diocese of Sacramento. When I heard the news I remembered thinking that this would be a tremendous blessing to the people of Sacramento. Everyone who encounters Bishop Cotta feels the warmth and love of the Holy Spirit. I am grateful to have the spiritual connection and to call him my friend.
