Hey Kid: Granny Plans
Hey Kid - It's been a while since I've written to you, but the truth is I've been thinking about you more than ever. Every day, we get closer to your (eventual) arrival and I wanted to let you know that I'm already making plans. I'm going to be ready with stuff, ideas, activities, adventures and all kinds of other wonderful things to share with you (and Chief too.)
I'm already planning your "room" at my house. (Although I don't know where it will be yet.) I know what I want it to look like and what I want to have in there for you.
I'm also keeping track of some really great ideas. I've started a "Hey Kid" idea folder in my email to keep track of things I love. A few examples:
- Creating a Gmail account for you when you are born (or when we anticipate your arrival.) I can use it to send pictures, stories, letters etc. to you throughout your life. When you turn 18, I'll give you the password.
- Granny Camp - This idea was stolen from one of Sierra's co-workers (Judy.) Each year she takes her grandkids for a week and plans fun activities for them throughout the year. This would include day trips, visits to the park or movies... special menus and shopping trips. It will be like a week-long slumber party.
- Carry a toy or object that represents me and include it in photographs when I travel to let you know (visually) that I'm thinking of you. This idea comes from a terrific mom (Jacqueline) that carried a pink Hot Wheel and posted photos (while on a trip) for her boys to see that while she was away, she was thinking of them. Brilliant. I just have to find my "object."
And the list will continue.
Those are just some of the things I have planned. I'm sure we can (together) think of new and exciting things to do. In the meantime I'll continue to prepare. I'm really looking forward to the "forbidden" activities too, like having chocolate cake for dinner!
